Pūjya-namaskārya-prakaraṇa
On Those Worthy of Honor and Salutation
दुरावापमवाप्यैतन्नानुतिष्ठन्ति मानवा: । पहले तो ब्राह्मणत्वका प्राप्त होना ही कठिन है। यदि वह प्राप्त हो जाय तो उसका पालन करना और भी कठिन हो जाता है; किंतु बहुत-से मनुष्य इस दुर्लभ वस्तुको पाकर भी तदनुकूल आचरण नहीं करते हैं
durāvāpam avāpya etan nānutiṣṭhanti mānavāḥ |
मातंग ने कहा—इस कठिनता से प्राप्त होने वाली अवस्था को पाकर भी मनुष्य उसके अनुसार आचरण नहीं करते। पहले तो ब्राह्मणत्व का मिलना ही कठिन है; और मिल जाने पर उसके योग्य आचार का पालन करना उससे भी अधिक कठिन है। फिर भी बहुत-से लोग इस दुर्लभ पद को पाकर भी उसके अनुरूप धर्म-नियम नहीं निभाते।
