उद्धव: सुन्दर: सुन्दो रत्ननाभ: सुलोचन: । अर्को वाजसन: शृज्जी जयन्त: सर्वविज्जयी
uddhavaḥ sundaraḥ sundaḥ ratnanābhaḥ sulocanaḥ | arko vājasanaḥ śṛjñī jayantaḥ sarvavijjayī ||
भीष्म ने कहा—वह उद्धव, सुन्दर, सुन्द, रत्ननाभ, सुलोचन; तथा अर्क, वाजसन, शृज्ञी, जयन्त और सर्वविज्जयी कहलाता है। ये नाम उसके स्वेच्छावतार, सौन्दर्य-करुणा, दीप्तिमान स्वरूप, याचकों पर उपकार, प्रलयकालीन संरक्षण, और अजेय सर्वज्ञ प्रभुत्व का स्तवन करते हैं—भक्ति-पूर्वक स्मरण को धर्म मानकर।
