अनिर्विण्ण: स्थविष्ठो5 भूर्धर्मयूपो महामख: । नक्षत्रनेमिर्नक्षत्री क्षम: क्षाम: समीहन:

Transliteration

bhīṣma uvāca | anirviṇṇaḥ sthaviṣṭho 'bhūd dharmayūpo mahāmakhaḥ | nakṣatranemir nakṣatrī kṣamaḥ kṣāmaḥ samīhanaḥ ||

Translation

भीष्म बोले—वह निराशा और विकार से रहित है; विराट् रूप में स्थित है; अजन्मा है; धर्म का स्तम्भ है और महान् यज्ञस्वरूप है। वह समस्त नक्षत्रों का केन्द्र है; नक्षत्रों का स्वामी (चन्द्र) है; सब कार्यों में समर्थ है; जगत् का निवास-स्थान है; और सृष्टि तथा व्यवस्था के लिए सम्यक् चेष्टा करनेवाला है।
