उद्धव: क्षोभणो देव: श्रीगर्भ: परमेश्वर: । करणं कारणं कर्ता विकर्ता गहनो गृह:
uddhavaḥ kṣobhaṇo devaḥ śrīgarbhaḥ parameśvaraḥ | karaṇaṃ kāraṇaṃ kartā vikartā gahano guhaḥ ||
भीष्म ने कहा—वह ‘उद्धव’, ‘क्षोभण’, ‘देव’, ‘श्रीगर्भ’ और ‘परमेश्वर’ कहलाता है। वही करण और कारण है; वही कर्ता और अनेक लोकों का विकर्ता है; वह गहन है और गुह्य है—माया से अपने स्वरूप को आच्छादित कर लेता है।
