Adhyāya 152 — Bhīṣma’s Authorization for Yudhiṣṭhira’s Return to the Capital (नगरप्रवेशानुज्ञा)
स्त्रीधर्म: पूर्व एवायं विवाहे बन्धुभि: कृत: । सहधर्मचरी भर्तुर्भवत्यग्निसमीपत:
strī-dharmaḥ pūrva evāyaṃ vivāhe bandhubhiḥ kṛtaḥ | saha-dharma-carī bhartur bhavaty agni-samīpataḥ ||
महेश्वर बोले—“पत्नी का यह धर्म विवाह के समय उसके स्वजन पहले ही निश्चित कर देते हैं। क्योंकि पवित्र अग्नि के समीप ही वह अपने पति की सहधर्मिणी बनती है—धर्ममार्ग में उसके साथ बँधकर चलनेवाली।”
