Dāna-Śreṣṭhatā: On the Superiority of Giving
Maitreya–Vyāsa Exemplum
सकृज्जातिगुणोपेत: संगत्या गृहमागत: । अतिथि: पूजितो ब्रह्मंस्तेन मां नाजहात् स्मृति:
sakṛj jātiguṇopetaḥ saṅgatyā gṛham āgataḥ | atithiḥ pūjito brahman tena māṁ nājahāt smṛtiḥ ||
एक बार संयोग से जातिगत गुणों से सम्पन्न एक ब्राह्मण अतिथि मेरे घर आया था; मैंने उसका आदरपूर्वक सत्कार किया। हे ब्राह्मण! उसी कारण मेरी स्मृति आज तक मुझे नहीं छोड़ती।
