ज्योतिस्तेज: प्रकाशं वाप्यूर्ध्वगं चापि वर्ण्यते । प्रदानं तेजसां तस्मात्‌ तेजो वर्धयते नृणाम्‌

Transliteration

jyotistejaḥ prakāśaṃ vāpy ūrdhvagaṃ cāpi varṇyate | pradānaṃ tejasāṃ tasmāt tejo vardhayate nṛṇām ||

Translation

शुक्र बोले—ज्योति को तेज, प्रकाश तथा ऊर्ध्वगामी शक्ति कहा गया है। इसलिए तेजस्वी वस्तु का दान मनुष्यों के तेज की वृद्धि करता है—उनकी कान्ति, कीर्ति और सद्गुण-प्रताप बढ़ाता है।
