नरेण धर्मकामेन सर्व: श्रोतव्य इत्यपि । निखिलेनेतिहासो5यं ततः सिद्धिमवाप्रुयात्‌,धर्मकी इच्छा रखनेवाले मनुष्यके द्वारा यह सारा महाभारत इतिहास पूर्णरूपसे श्रवण करनेयोग्य है। ऐसा करनेसे मनुष्य सिद्धिको प्राप्त कर लेता है

Transliteration

vaiśampāyana uvāca | nareṇa dharmakāmena sarvaḥ śrotavya ity api | nikhilenetihāso 'yaṃ tataḥ siddhim avāpnuyāt ||

Translation

धर्म की कामना रखने वाले मनुष्य को यह समूचा इतिहास—यह सम्पूर्ण महाभारत—पूरा-पूरा सुनना चाहिए; इसे पूर्णतः सुन लेने से वह सिद्धि प्राप्त करता है।
