धर्मराजे ह्ाृतिप्रीत्या पूर्णचन्द्र इवामले । प्रजानां रेमिरे तुल्यं नेत्राणि हृदयानि च
vaiśampāyana uvāca |
dharmarāje hṛtiprītyā pūrṇacandra ivāmale |
prājānāṃ remire tulyaṃ netrāṇi hṛdayāni ca ||
धर्मराज युधिष्ठिर के प्रति हृदय की प्रीति के कारण—निर्मल पूर्णचन्द्रमा के समान—प्रजा जब उन्हें देखती, तो उसके नेत्र और हृदय एक साथ आनन्दित हो उठते थे। उनके दर्शन मात्र से सबके भीतर सहज, समान हर्ष जाग उठता था।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
A ruler grounded in dharma becomes a source of calm joy and trust for society; when kingship is pure and benevolent, the people’s outward perception (eyes) and inner life (hearts) harmonize in contentment.
The narrator describes how the subjects respond to Yudhiṣṭhira: because they deeply love him, merely seeing him makes them rejoice, likened to the delight inspired by a spotless full moon.
