Cause of Kalmāṣapāda’s Niyoga under a Curse
ततः सर्वानिवद्याज़ीं तपतीं तपन: स्वयम् । ददौ संवरणस्यार्थ वसिष्ठाय महात्मने,तदनन्तर साक्षात् भगवान् सूर्यने अनिन्द्यसुन्दरी तपतीको राजा संवरणकी पत्नी होनेके लिये महात्मा वसिष्ठको अर्पित कर दिया
tataḥ sarvānivadyāṃ ca tapantīṃ tapanaḥ svayam | dadau saṃvaraṇasyārthe vasiṣṭhāya mahātmane ||
तत्पश्चात् स्वयं भगवान् तपन (सूर्यदेव) ने सर्वथा अनिन्द्य तपती को राजा संवरण की पत्नी बनाने हेतु महात्मा वसिष्ठ के हाथों सौंप दिया।
वसिष्ठ उवाच

The Sun-god (Tapana) personally entrusts his daughter Tapati—described as blameless—to the sage Vasiṣṭha, with the explicit purpose that she be given in marriage to King Saṃvaraṇa.
