शृणु तार्क्ष्य यथान्यायं प्रेतत्वे पितरो यदि / नोपतिष्ठन्ति श्राद्धानि सपिण्डीकरणं विना

śṛṇu tārkṣya yathānyāyaṃ pretatve pitaro yadi / nopatiṣṭhanti śrāddhāni sapiṇḍīkaraṇaṃ vinā

हे तार्क्ष्य (गरुड), यथोचित धर्म सुनो—यदि पितर प्रेत-भाव में हों, तो सपिण्डीकरण के बिना श्राद्ध-दान उन्हें ठीक प्रकार से नहीं पहुँचता।
