Lord Vishnu (narrating to Garuda/Vinata-putra)

Concept: Divine impelling and the movement of beings toward engagements; prompts inquiry into how desire, sense-objects, and divine order interact.

Vedantic Theme: Īśvara as inner regulator/antaryāmin (in a broad sense) while preserving karmic causality; pravṛtti toward viṣaya as part of saṁsāra’s mechanism.

Application: When pulled toward sense-objects, pause and examine the impulse; redirect the same ‘preraṇā’ toward dharmic action and remembrance of Hari.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

FAQs

This verse frames attachment to viṣayas as a driving force that repeatedly pushes beings into worldly involvement, strengthening karmic bondage and obstructing higher discernment.

By describing a constant ‘sending’ toward sense-objects, the verse highlights how desire and compulsion shape one’s tendencies, which in turn condition the soul’s trajectory through karma and its results.

Practice restraint and mindful choice around sensory temptations; reduce compulsive habits and align actions with dharma to weaken the pull of repeated worldly impulses.
