Veṅkaṭācala Māhātmya: Bhakti-Lakṣaṇa, Nārasiṁha-tīrtha, and the Secret Darśana-Vidhi of Śrīnivāsa
ये देवयात्रां परमात्मचिन्तया कुर्वन्ति ते हरिभक्ताश्च नान्ये / यतो हरौ परमे वैष्णवानां सर्वं निष्ठामेति कृत्यं खगेन्द्र
ye devayātrāṃ paramātmacintayā kurvanti te haribhaktāśca nānye / yato harau parame vaiṣṇavānāṃ sarvaṃ niṣṭhāmeti kṛtyaṃ khagendra
Lord Vishnu (Hari) speaking to Garuda (Khagendra/Vinata-putra)
Concept: All kṛtya (duties/observances) attain their final purpose when anchored in the Supreme Hari; true bhakti is defined by Paramātman contemplation during sacred acts.
Vedantic Theme: Karma-yoga culminating in Īśvara-niṣṭhā; integration of dharma into brahma/paramātma-cintana leading toward mokṣa.
Application: When performing rituals, travel, vows, or service, keep steady remembrance of the Supreme; simplify practice by orienting diverse duties toward one center—Hari.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: vira
Type: pilgrimage route (devayātrā) as inner-outer journey
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 3.24.34-35 (Viṣṇu-kathā and Vaiṣṇava presence)
This verse teaches that pilgrimage becomes spiritually effective when done with Paramatma-consciousness; the journey is not merely external travel but an act of Hari-bhakti rooted in inner contemplation.
A true devotee is one whose actions—such as pilgrimage and religious duties—are performed with remembrance of the Supreme Lord; for such Vaishnavas, all obligations culminate in Hari.
When doing temple visits, vows, or rituals, keep focused remembrance of Vishnu/Paramatma and align conduct with devotion—treat practices as means to deepen surrender rather than as mere formalities.
