Prāsāda-Lakṣaṇa: Temple Proportions, Śikhara Ratios, Liṅga–Pīṭha Measures, and Auspicious Ground-Plans
प्रावृता जगती कार्या फलपुष्पजलान्विता / प्रसादेषु सुरांस्थाप्य पूजाभिः पूजयेन्नरः / वासुदेवः सर्वदेवः सर्वभाक् तद्गृहादिकृत्
prāvṛtā jagatī kāryā phalapuṣpajalānvitā / prasādeṣu surāṃsthāpya pūjābhiḥ pūjayennaraḥ / vāsudevaḥ sarvadevaḥ sarvabhāk tadgṛhādikṛt
Lord Vishnu (Vāsudeva) instructing Garuda (Vinata-putra)
Concept: Vāsudeva is sarvadeva—worship of many forms culminates in the One; He is the enjoyer of offerings and the ordainer of the sacred dwelling.
Vedantic Theme: Eka-tattva underlying nāma-rūpa: saguna devotion grounded in the unity of the divine (antaryāmin/īśvara).
Application: Perform worship with cleanliness and completeness (fruits, flowers, water), while holding the inner intention that offerings are ultimately for Vāsudeva.
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Type: altar-platform and inner worship area
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.47.44-46 (preparatory architecture and staffing for worship); Garuda Purana 1.48.1 (pratishtha framework that follows)
This verse states that Vāsudeva is essentially all deities and the receiver of all offerings, so worship directed to Him is considered comprehensive and complete.
Indirectly: it emphasizes correct devotional and ritual conduct (pujā) as dharma, which supports spiritual merit and steadiness of mind—foundational themes that the Garuda Purana links with one’s post-death outcomes.
Keep a clean worship space, offer simple sattvic items like water, flowers, and fruits, and cultivate the understanding that sincere devotion to the Supreme (Vāsudeva) fulfills the intent of many ritual forms.
