Balarāma Humbles the Kurus and Rescues Sāmba
sāntvayitvā tu tān rāmaḥ sannaddhān vṛṣṇi-puṅgavān naicchat kurūṇāṁ vṛṣṇīnāṁ kaliṁ kali-malāpahaḥ
This verse shows Lord Balarāma deliberately preventing a destructive quarrel between two powerful clans, teaching that harmony and restraint are dharmic and protect one from Kali’s contamination.
Because He did not want a ruinous inter-dynastic clash; as “kalimalāpahaḥ,” He acts to remove the impurity of discord by calming His own side first.
De-escalate conflict early—especially within one’s own circle—by calming emotions, discouraging retaliation, and choosing solutions that reduce long-term bitterness and division.
