दण्डपारुष्याच्च तमेव दोषमन्येभ्यः प्राप्नोति ॥ कZ_०८.३.३६ ॥
daṇḍapāruṣyācca tameva doṣam anyebhyaḥ prāpnoti
दंड की कठोरता/अत्यधिक दमन के कारण वह वही दोष (अपराध-भार) अपने ऊपर ले लेता है, जो वह दूसरों पर लगाता है।
A ruler who uses excessive cruelty in punishment undermines justice and becomes morally/legally tainted—effectively sharing the offender’s fault.
Danda must be proportionate and rule-bound; when danda becomes pāruṣya (cruelty), it turns from governance into wrongdoing.
