व्याकरण के क्रम में यह अध्याय तद्धित से आगे बढ़कर उणादि-प्रत्ययों का निरूपण करता है—धातुओं के बाद लगने वाले विशेष प्रत्यय जिनसे प्रचलित शब्दरूप सिद्ध होते हैं। कुमार के उपदेश-स्वर में कुछ उदाहरण दिए हैं, जैसे उणि-प्रत्यय से ‘कारु’ (कारीगर)। फिर वैदिक प्रयोग में ‘बहुल’ रूप से मिलने वाले उणादि-सिद्ध/परंपरागत शब्दों की निघण्टु-शैली में सूची आती है। एक स्थान पर पाठभेद का संकेत देकर भिन्न पाठ-परंपराओं की भिन्नता भी बताई गई है। पशु, संबंधी, स्थान, वस्तु और भाव आदि के शब्दरूप देकर यह ज्ञान यज्ञ, अध्ययन और सुशासन में शुद्ध भाषा-प्रयोग द्वारा धर्म की सेवा करता है।
