FAQs

Tīrtha-māhātmya sections often map different manifestations/epithets of Viṣṇu onto distinct locations, creating a sacral geography where each stop offers a particular form of darśana and merit.

Cakrapāṇi identifies the deity iconographically as Viṣṇu holding the Sudarśana-cakra, emphasizing sovereign protection and cosmic order—an aspect frequently highlighted at pilgrimage shrines.

From these verses alone it is best treated as an internal toponym within the Vāmana Purāṇa’s local itinerary; without additional chapter context or manuscript colophons, equating it with a later or external ‘Gaja’ site would be speculative.
