Sunartaka-Naṭa Avatāra and Pārvatī’s Boon-Request (Śiva as the Testing Benefactor)

idamākhyānamanaghaṃ paramaṃ vyāhṛtammayā | ya etacchṛṇuyātprītyā sa sukhī gatimāpnuyāt

Tattva Level: pashu
Significance: Śravaṇa (devotional listening) to Śiva-kathā is presented as a direct means to sukha and gati (higher state), aligning with Siddhānta’s emphasis that grace is accessed through bhakti-saturated upāyas like śravaṇa-kīrtana.
Type: stotra
It teaches that śravaṇa (devout listening) to Śiva’s pure and supreme kathā is itself a means of grace, producing inner happiness and leading the seeker toward a higher spiritual destiny aligned with liberation.
By praising the merit of hearing Śiva’s līlā and glory, it supports Saguna-upāsanā: devotion to Śiva with form (including Liṅga worship) is nourished through kathā-śravaṇa, which ripens bhakti and steadies the mind in Śiva.
Regular kathā-śravaṇa (listening/recitation) with prīti (loving devotion), ideally alongside simple Śiva-bhakti supports such as chanting “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” is the implied takeaway.
