શ્રાદ્ધમાં તથા ભોજનકાળે એક હાથથી જ આપવું; પરંતુ તર્પણમાં બંને હાથથી આપવું—આ સનાતન વિધિ છે।

FAQs

It encodes ritual etiquette (ācāra): certain offerings and acts of serving are to be done in a restrained, orderly manner—symbolized here by using one hand—so the rite remains disciplined and properly performed.

Tarpaṇa is a formal libation/oblation meant to ‘satisfy’ ancestors or deities; using both hands signifies fullness, completeness, and deliberate ritual intent in the offering.

The verse frames respectful ritual conduct as a longstanding standard of dharma: carefulness, reverence, and consistency in sacred duties—especially those connected with feeding and honoring ancestors.
