निर्मनुष्ये महीपाल निःश्वापदमहीरुहे । अनन्तरिक्षे लोके5स्मिन्‌ भ्रमाम्पेकोडहमाहत:

Transliteration

vaiśampāyana uvāca | nirmanuṣye mahīpāla niḥśvāpadamahīruhe | anantarikṣe loke 'smin bhramāmy eko 'ham āhataḥ ||

Translation

હે મહીપાલ, આ લોકમાં ન મનુષ્ય હતા, ન પશુ-પક્ષી, ન વૃક્ષ; અને અંતરિક્ષના જીવ પણ ન રહ્યા—એવી સ્થિતિમાં હું એકલો, આઘાતગ્રસ્ત સમો, અહીં-તહીં ભટકતો રહ્યો।
