न तु तस्मै प्रदेयं स्यात्‌ तथा कार्यगतिः प्रभो | विग्रह: समुपारब्धो न हि शाम्यत्यविग्रहात्‌

Transliteration

na tu tasmai pradeyaṃ syāt tathā kāryagatiḥ prabho | vigrahaḥ samupārabdhaḥ na hi śāmyaty avigrahāt prabho ||

Translation

દુર્યોધને કહ્યું—પ્રભુ! તેમ છતાં મારું મત છે કે આ સમયે તેમને કંઈ પણ આપવું ન જોઈએ; કારણ કે આપણા હિત માટે આ જ યોગ્ય કાર્યનીતિ છે. જ્યારે વૈર શરૂ થઈ ગયું હોય, ત્યારે માત્ર અતિથિસત્કાર કે બહારથી મિત્રતા બતાવવાથી તે શમતું નથી.
