Udyoga-parva Adhyāya 71 — Kṣatra-dharma Counsel, Public Legitimacy, and Mobilization
हमारे विरोधियोंमें अधिकांश हमारे भाई-बन्धु, सहायक और गुरुजन हैं। उनका वध तो बहुत बड़ा पाप है। युद्धमें अच्छी बात क्या है? (कुछ नहीं) ।।
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | pāpaḥ kṣatriyadharmo ’yaṃ vayaṃ ca kṣatrabandhavaḥ | sa naḥ svadharmo ’dharmaḥ vā vṛttir anyā vigarhitā ||
યુધિષ્ઠિરે કહ્યું— યુદ્ધરૂપ ક્ષત્રિયધર્મ મને પાપસમાન લાગે છે, અને અમે પણ ક્ષત્રિયવંશના બંધનમાં છીએ. છતાં એ જ અમારો સ્વધર્મ છે—અધર્મ જેવો જણાય તોય—કારણ તેને છોડીને બીજી જીવિકા અપનાવવી નિંદનીય ગણાશે.
