Adhyaya 60: Self-Assertion, Daiva, and the Rhetoric of Inevitability (उद्योग पर्व)
मयाभिमन्त्रित: शश्वज्जातवेदा: प्रशाम्यति । दिधक्षु: सकलॉल्लोकान् परिक्षिप्प समन्ततः,(वैसे तो मुझमें भी दैवबल है ही;) यदि मैं अभिमन्त्रित कर दूँ तो सदा सम्पूर्ण लोकोंको जलाकर भस्म कर डालनेकी इच्छासे प्रज्वलित हुई आग भी सब ओरसे सिमटकर बुझ जायगी
mayābhimantritaḥ śaśvaj jātavedāḥ praśāmyati | didhakṣuḥ sakalāṁl lokān parikṣipya samantataḥ ||
જો હું તેના પર અભિમંત્રિત કરું, તો જાતવેદા અગ્નિ તત્ક્ષણે શાંત થઈ જશે—ભલે તે ચારે તરફ ફેલાઈ સર્વ લોકોને દહન કરી ભસ્મ કરવા ઇચ્છાથી પ્રજ્વલિત થતો હોય તોય।
