यदा शिखण्डी रथिन: प्रचिन्वन् भीष्म रथेनाभियाता वरूथी । दिव्यैहयैरवमृद्नन् रथौघां- स्तदा युद्ध धार्तराष्ट्रोडन्वतप्स्यत्
sañjaya uvāca | yadā śikhaṇḍī rathinaḥ pracinvan bhīṣma-rathenābhiyātā varūthī | divyair hayair avamṛdnan rathaughāṃs tadā yuddhe dhārtarāṣṭro ’nvatapsyat ||
સંજય બોલ્યો—જ્યારે શિખંડી રથની રક્ષા-સાધનોથી સજ્જ થઈ, રથીઓને પસંદ કરી કરી હણતો, દિવ્ય અશ્વોથી રથસમૂહોને કચડતો, રથારૂઢ થઈ ભીષ્મ પર ચઢાઈ કરશે, ત્યારે યુદ્ધ છેડાઈ ગયાનું કારણ યાદ કરી ધૃતરાષ્ટ્રપુત્ર દુર્યોધન કડવા પશ્ચાત્તાપથી તપશે।
