यदा विराट: परवीरघाती रणान्तरे शत्रुचमूं प्रवेष्टा । मत्स्यै: सार्थमनृशंसरूपै- स्तदा युद्ध धार्तराष्ट्रोडन्वतप्स्यत्
sañjaya uvāca |
yadā virāṭaḥ paravīraghātī raṇāntare śatrucamūṃ praveṣṭā |
matsyaiḥ sārtham anṛśaṃsarūpais tadā yuddhe dhārtarāṣṭro 'nutapsyat ||
સંજય બોલ્યો—જ્યારે પરવીરઘાતી રાજા વિરાટ સૌમ્ય અને અનૃશંસ સ્વભાવવાળા મત્સ્ય યોદ્ધાઓ સાથે રણભૂમિમાં શત્રુસેનાના મધ્યમાં પ્રવેશ કરશે, ત્યારે યુદ્ધમાં ધૃતરાષ્ટ્રપુત્ર દુર્યોધન આ સંઘર્ષ ઉકેલ્યાનો કડવો પરિણામ સમજી પશ્ચાત્તાપથી દગ્ધ થશે।
