कर्णस्तु पड्चरात्रेण प्रतिजज्ञे महास्त्रवित् । तच्छुत्वा सूतपुत्रस्य वाक्यं सागरगासुतः
karṇas tu pañcarātreṇa pratijajñe mahāstravit | tac chrutvā sūtaputrasya vākyaṃ sāgaragāsutaḥ |
મહાસ્ત્રવિદ્ કર્ણે પાંચ રાત્રિઓમાં પાંડવસેનાનો નાશ કરવાની પ્રતિજ્ઞા કરી. સૂતપુત્રના આ વચનને સાંભળી ગંગાપુત્ર ભીષ્મ ઉંચે હસ્યા।
