पिता त्वस्य महातेजा वृद्धो5पि युवभिर्वर: । रणे कर्म महत्‌ कर्ता अत्र मे नास्ति संशय:,अश्वत्थामाके पिता द्रोणाचार्य महान्‌ तेजस्वी हैं। ये बूढ़े होनेपर भी नवयुवकोंसे अच्छे हैं। इस युद्धमें ये अपना महान्‌ पराक्रम प्रकट करेंगे, इसमें मुझे संशय नहीं है

pitā tv asya mahātejā vṛddho 'pi yuvabhir varaḥ | raṇe karma mahat kartā atra me nāsti saṁśayaḥ ||

તેના પિતા મહાતેજસ્વી દ્રોણાચાર્ય છે. તેઓ વૃદ્ધ હોવા છતાં યુવાનો કરતાં શ્રેષ્ઠ છે. આ યુદ્ધમાં તેઓ મહાન કાર્યો કરશે—એમાં મને કોઈ સંશય નથી.
