Chapter 81: Trust, Allies, and the Qualifications of the King’s Artha-Secretary (अर्थसचिव)
तं शक््त्या वर्धमानश्न सर्वतः परिबृंहयेत् । नित्यं क्षताद् वारयति यो धर्मेष्वपि कर्मसु
taṁ śaktyā vardhamānaś ca sarvataḥ paribṛṁhayet | nityaṁ kṣatād vārayati yo dharmeṣv api karmasu ||
પોતાની શક્તિ અને સમૃદ્ધિ વધે ત્યારે, યથાશક્તિ તેને (રાજાને) સર્વ તરફથી પુષ્ટ અને સમૃદ્ધ કરવો જોઈએ. જે ધર્મકાર્યોમાં લાગેલો હોવા છતાં રાજાને સદા હાનિથી બચાવવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરે અને રાજહાનિની આશંકાથી વ્યાકુળ થાય—એ જ સ્વભાવ સાચા મિત્રનું લક્ષણ છે; અને જે રાજાની હાનિ તથા વિનાશ ઇચ્છે, તેઓ શત્રુ ગણાય છે.
