यमाश्रित्य नरा राजन वर्तयेयुर्यथासुखम् । अनाथास्तप्यमानाश्व दस्युभि: परिपीडिता:
yam āśritya narā rājan vartayeyur yathāsukham | anāthās tapyamānāś ca dasyubhiḥ paripīḍitāḥ ||
ભીષ્મે કહ્યું—હે રાજન! જેના આશ્રયથી લોકો સુખપૂર્વક રહી શકે, તે જ સાચો આશ્રયદાતા છે. જે અનાથ, દુઃખથી તપતા અને દસ્યુઓ (ડાકુઓ) દ્વારા પીડિત હોય, તેમણે એવા રક્ષકને પોતાના સગા સમાન માની આનંદથી તેનો આદર કરવો; કારણ કે, કુરુશ્રેષ્ઠ! જે નિર્ભય થઈ વારંવાર બીજાના સંકટ દૂર કરી શકે, તે જ રાજોચિત સન્માનને પાત્ર છે.
