राज्ञो वृत्त-गुण-संग्रहः (Conduct and the Thirty-Six Virtues of a King) / The King’s Code of Conduct
जो राजा यथार्थरूपसे बताये गये इन सभी गुणोंका अनुवर्तन करता है, वह इस जगत्में कल्याणका अनुभव करके मृत्युके पश्चात् स्वर्गलोकमें प्रतिष्ठित होता है ।।
vaiśampāyana uvāca | idaṃ vacaḥ śāntanavasya śuśruvān yudhiṣṭhiraḥ pāṇḍavamukhyasaṃvṛtaḥ | tadā vavande ca pitāmahaṃ nṛpo yathoktam etac ca cakāra buddhimān ||
યથાર્થ રીતે જણાવાયેલા આ બધા ગુણોનું જે રાજા અનુસરણ કરે છે, તે આ જગતમાં કલ્યાણનો અનુભવ કરીને મૃત્યુ પછી સ્વર્ગલોકમાં પ્રતિષ્ઠિત થાય છે. વૈશમ્પાયને કહ્યું—હે જનમેજય! શાંતનુનંદન ભીષ્મના આ વચનો સાંભળી, પાંડવોમાં અગ્રગણ્ય અને મુખ્ય રાજાઓથી ઘેરાયેલા બુદ્ધિમાન રાજા યુધિષ્ઠિરે પિતામહને પ્રણામ કર્યો અને જેમ ઉપદેશ મળ્યો તેમ જ આચરણ કર્યું.
