प्रेष्प्माणा विकल्पन्ते गुह्मां चाप्पनुयुञ्जते । अयाच्य॑ चैव याचन्ते भोज्यान्याहारयन्ति च
preṣyamāṇā vikalpante guhyaṃ cāpy anuyuñjate | ayācyaṃ caiva yācante bhojyāny āhārayanti ca ||
કોઈ કાર્ય માટે મોકલવામાં આવે ત્યારે તેઓ નિરર્થક શંકાઓ ઊભી કરીને તેની સિદ્ધિને સંદિગ્ધ બનાવે છે. તેઓ ગુપ્ત બાબતોમાં ખોદખાદ કરે છે અને રાજાની છુપેલી ખામીઓ પણ બહાર લાવે છે. જે માગવું અયોગ્ય છે તે પણ માગે છે અને રાજા માટે રાખેલું ભોજન પણ પોતે ખાઈ જાય છે.
