Sūrya–Nāga Dialogue on the Perfected Gleaner-Ascetic

tasmat pṛthvyāḥ paritrāṇaṃ kariṣye sambhavaṃ gataḥ | evaṃ sa cintayitvā tu bhagavān madhusūdanaḥ, ebhirmayā nihantavyā durvinītāḥ surārayaḥ |

Educational Q&A

When disorder and oppression endanger the world, righteous power is justified as protective action: the divine ‘takes birth’ not for conquest but for safeguarding the earth and restoring discipline and cosmic order (dharma).

Vaiśampāyana narrates that Madhusūdana (Viṣṇu/Kṛṣṇa) reflects on the earth’s peril and resolves to incarnate, with the purpose of destroying the arrogant enemies of the gods who threaten the world’s stability.
