त्रेतायुगादौ च ततो विवस्वान् मनवे ददौ । मनुश्न लोकभूत्यर्थ सुतायेक्ष्वाकवे ददौ,फिर त्रेतायुगके आरम्भमें सूर्यने मनुको और मनुने सम्पूर्ण जगत्के कल्याणके लिये अपने पुत्र इक्ष्वाकुको इसका उपदेश दिया
tretāyugādau ca tato vivasvān manave dadau | manuś ca lokabhūtyarthaṁ sutāyekṣvākave dadau ||
વૈશંપાયન બોલ્યા—પછી ત્રેતાયુગના આરંભે વિવસ્વાન્ (સૂર્ય) એ આ ઉપદેશ મનુને આપ્યો; અને મનુએ સમગ્ર જગતના કલ્યાણાર્થે પોતાના પુત્ર ઇક્ષ્વાકુને તે શીખવ્યો।
