Puruṣaikatva-vyākhyāna: The One Virāṭ Puruṣa and the Many ‘Puruṣas’

ऋषय ऊचु: बीजैर्यज्ञिषु यष्टव्यमिति वै वैदिकी श्रुति: । अजरसंज्ञानि बीजानि च्छागं नो हन्तुमर्हथ
ṛṣaya ūcuḥ—bījair yajñeṣu yaṣṭavyam iti vai vaidikī śrutiḥ | ajarasaṃjñāni bījāni chāgaṃ no hantum arhatha ||
ઋષિઓએ કહ્યું—હે દેવો! વૈદિક શ્રુતિ કહે છે કે યજ્ઞોમાં બીજ (ધાન્ય) દ્વારા યજન કરવું જોઈએ. બીજોને જ ‘અજ’ નામ છે; તેથી બકરાનો વધ કરાવવો યોગ્ય નથી. શ્રુતિના સાચા અભિપ્રાય મુજબ અહિંસાથી યજ્ઞ સિદ્ધ થાઓ.
