Śuka’s Guṇa-Transcendence and Vyāsa’s Consolation (शुकगति-वर्णनम्)

येन येन हि यस्यार्थ: कारणेनेह कर्मणि । तत्तदालम्बते सर्व: स्वे स्वे स्वार्थपरिग्रहे,अपने-अपने अभीष्ट अर्थकी सिद्धिके लिये जिस मनुष्यको जिस-जिस साधनभूत वस्तुसे प्रयोजन होता है, वे सभी अपना-अपना काम बनानेके लिये उन-उन वस्तुओंका आश्रय लेते हैं

yena yena hi yasyārthaḥ kāraṇeneha karmaṇi | tattad ālambate sarvaḥ sve sve svārthaparigrahe ||

જનક બોલ્યા— આ કર્મલોકમાં જે વ્યક્તિને જે અભિષ્ટ અર્થ સિદ્ધ કરવો હોય, તે માટે જે જે સાધન જરૂરી લાગે, તે તે સાધનનો જ આશ્રય લે છે; કારણ કે દરેક માણસ પોતાના સ્વાર્થસાધનમાં તત્પર રહી પોતાના હેતુને સિદ્ધ કરનાર ઉપકરણને જ ગ્રહણ કરે છે.
