Mahābhārata 12.292
अनहश्नाहतां प्राप्ता: सन्त: स्तुत्वा तमेव ह । नतु वृद्धिमिहान्विच्छेत् कर्म कृत्वा जुगुप्सितम्
anahaśnāhatāṁ prāptāḥ santaḥ stutvā tameva ha | na tu vṛddhim ihānvicchet karma kṛtvā jugupsitam ||
પારાશરે કહ્યું—જે પૂજાને યોગ્ય ન હતા, તેઓ પણ એ જ પ્રભુની સ્તુતિ કરીને સંત બન્યા, પૂજ્ય થયા અને તેને જ પ્રાપ્ત થયા. તેથી આ લોકમાં નિંદનીય અને ઘૃણાસ્પદ કર્મ કરીને કોઈએ પણ પોતાની વૃદ્ધિ કે અભ્યुदયની આશા રાખવી ન જોઈએ.
