श्रेयो-धर्मकर्मविचारः

सप्तोत्तरं तत्र वसत्यनीश: संहारविक्षेपशतं सशेषम् | तस्मादुपावृत्य मनुष्यलोके ततो महान् मानुषतामुपैति
saptottaraṃ tatra vasaty anīśaḥ saṃhāra-vikṣepa-śataṃ saśeṣam | tasmād upāvṛtya manuṣya-loke tato mahān mānuṣatām upaiti ||
ભીષ્મે કહ્યું— જે યોગસાધનામાં પૂર્ણપણે સમર્થ નથી, તે અવશેષ સંસ્કારો સાથે ઉપરના લોકોમાં સંહાર-વિક્ષેપના સો ચક્ર સુધી વિવશ થઈને વસે છે. પછી ત્યાંથી પરત ફરી મનુષ્યલોકમાં અગાઉ કરતાં વધુ મહત્ત્વ અને સામર્થ્યવાળો માનવદેહ પામે છે.

In Bhishma’s instruction (Shanti Parva), he explains the post-death trajectory of a yoga-practitioner who is unable to finish the discipline: residence in higher worlds for an extended cosmic measure, followed by return to the human world in a more eminent birth, still bearing remaining karmic traces.
