राजधर्मः—राष्ट्ररक्षणं, दण्डनीतिः, हयग्रीवोपाख्यानम्

नाकालतो भानुरुपैति योगं नाकालतो3स्तंगिरिमभ्युपैति | नाकालतो वर्धते हीयते च चन्द्र: समुद्रो5पि महोर्मिमाली
na kālato bhānur upaiti yogaṃ na kālato ’staṅgirim abhyupaiti | na kālato vardhate hīyate ca candraḥ samudro ’pi mahormimālī ||
વ્યાસે કહ્યું—સૂર્ય અકાળે ઉદયાચલ સાથે જોડાતો નથી અને સમય પહેલાં અસ્તાચલ તરફ પણ જતો નથી. એ જ રીતે ચંદ્ર અકાળે ન વધે ન ઘટે; અને મહાતરંગોથી મંડિત સમુદ્ર પણ અકાળે ઉછળતો નથી. તેથી જગતની મહાશક્તિઓ પણ સમયના અધિન ચાલે છે—નિયત ક્ષણના વિરુદ્ધ પરિણામોને દબાણથી ન લાવી, ધૈર્ય અને મર્યાદાથી કર્મ કરવું જોઈએ.
