Śaṅkha–Likhita Upākhyāna: Daṇḍa, Confession, and the Purification of Kingship (शङ्ख-लिखितोपाख्यानम्)
विद्वांस्त्यागी श्रद्दधधान: कृतज्ञ- स्त्यक्त्वा लोकं मानुषं कर्म कृत्वा । मेधाविनां विदुषां सम्मतानां तनुत्यजां लोकमाक्रम्य राजा
vidvāṁs tyāgī śraddadhānaḥ kṛtajñas tyaktvā lokaṁ mānuṣaṁ karma kṛtvā | medhāvināṁ viduṣāṁ sammatānāṁ tanutyajāṁ lokam ākramya rājā ||
વૈશમ્પાયન બોલ્યા— તે રાજા વિદ્વાન, ત્યાગી, શ્રદ્ધાવાન અને કૃતજ્ઞ હતા. માનુષ લોકમાં પોતાના કર્તવ્યકર્મ પૂર્ણ કરીને આ લોક ત્યજી, તેઓ તે લોકને પ્રાપ્ત થયા—જ્યાં મેધાવી અને વિદ્વાન, સર્વસન્માનિત, તથા પુણ્યતીર્થોમાં દેહત્યાગ કરનાર પુણ્યાત્માઓ નિવાસ કરે છે; ત્યાં તેઓ સ્થિર થયા.
