सर्वभूतान्युपादाय तपसश्नलरणाय हि । आदिकर्ता स भूतानां तमेवाहु: प्रजापतिम्,भूतोंके आदि कर्ता ब्रह्माजी ही तपस्याके लिये समस्त सूक्ष्म भूतोंको साथ लेकर समष्टि शरीरमें प्रवेश करके स्थित होते हैं; इसलिये मुनिजन उन्हें प्रजापति कहते हैं
sarvabhūtāny upādāya tapasas tvaṇāya hi | ādikartā sa bhūtānāṁ tam evāhuḥ prajāpatiṁ ||
તપસ્યા અને સર્જન-પ્રયત્ન માટે તે સર્વ ભૂતોના સૂક્ષ્મ તત્ત્વોને ધારણ કરી ભૂતોનો આદિકર્તા બને છે; તેથી મુનિઓ તેને જ ‘પ્રજાપતિ’ કહે છે.
