देवा मनुष्या: पितरो गन्धर्वोरगराक्षसा: | आसन सर्वे मम वशे तत् सर्व वेत्थ वासव,वासव! एक दिन देवता, मनुष्य, पितर, गन्धर्व, नाग और राक्षस--ये सभी मेरे अधीन थे। वह सब कुछ तुम जानते हो
śakra uvāca | devā manuṣyāḥ pitaraḥ gandharvoragarākṣasāḥ | āsan sarve mama vaśe tat sarva vettha vāsava ||
હે વાસવ! દેવો, મનુષ્યો, પિતરો, ગંધર્વો, નાગો અને રાક્ષસો—આ બધા એક સમયે મારા વશમાં હતા; એ બધું તું જાણે છે.
श॒क्र उवाच
Even vast authority over gods and beings is not absolute or permanent; the verse gestures toward humility and the recognition that dominion shifts according to dharma and time.
Śakra (Indra) speaks, recalling a time when all classes of beings—divine, human, ancestral, celestial, serpentine, and demonic—were under his sway, and he addresses Vāsava, emphasizing that this fact is already known.
