त्रिवर्गमूलनिश्चयः — Determining the Roots of Dharma, Artha, and Kāma
Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 123
भूय: स भगवान् ध्यात्वा चिरं शूलवरायुध: । तस्य तस्य निकायस्य चकारैकैकमीश्वरम्,भगवान् शूलपाणिने पुन: चिरकालतक चिन्तन करके भिन्न-भिन्न समूहका एक-एक राजा बनाया
bhūyaḥ sa bhagavān dhyātvā ciraṃ śūlavarāyudhaḥ | tasya tasya nikāyasya cakāraikaikam īśvaram ||
પછી તે શૂલ-શ્રેષ્ઠ આયુધધારી ભગવાને લાંબા સમય સુધી ધ્યાન કર્યું; અને સમ્યક્ વિચાર કરીને દરેક અલગ સમૂહ માટે એક-એક અધિષ્ઠાતા (રાજા) નિમ્યો.
