Jaitrya-nimitta: Signs of Prospective Victory and the Priority of Conciliation (जयलक्षण-निमित्त तथा सान्त्व-प्रधान नीति)
प्रसन्नभा: पावकश्षोर्ध्वरश्मि: प्रदक्षिणावर्त शिखो विधूम: । पुण्या गन्धाश्वाहुतीनां भवन्ति जयस्यैतद् भाविनो रूपमाहु:,यदि बिना धुएँकी आग प्रज्वलित हो, उसकी ज्वाला निर्मल हो और लपटें ऊपरकी ओर उठ रही हों अथवा उस अग्निकी शिखाएँ दाहिनी ओर जाती दिखायी देती हों तथा आहुतियोंकी पवित्र गन्ध प्रकट हो रही हो तो इन सबको भावी विजयका शुभ चिह्न बताया गया है
bhīṣma uvāca | prasannabhāḥ pāvakaś cordhvaraśmiḥ pradakṣiṇāvartaśikho vidhūmaḥ | puṇyā gandhāś cāhūtīnāṁ bhavanti jayasya etad bhāvino rūpam āhuḥ ||
ભીષ્મે કહ્યું—જ્યારે યજ્ઞાગ્નિ ધુમાડા વિના પ્રજ્વલિત થાય, તેની જ્વાળા નિર્મળ અને સ્થિર રહે, તેની લપટો ઉપર ઊઠે અથવા જમણી તરફ વળતી દેખાય, અને આહુતિઓમાંથી પવિત્ર સુગંધ પ્રગટ થાય—ત્યારે આ બધું ભાવિ વિજયનું શુભ ચિહ્ન કહેવાય છે।
