दग्धा: सहस्रशो दैत्या नादै: स्कन्दस्य चापरे | पताकयावधूताश्न हता: केचित् सुरद्विष:
Vaiśampāyana uvāca | dagdhāḥ sahasraśo daityā nādaiḥ skandasya cāpare | patākayā vadhūtāś ca hatāḥ kecit suradviṣaḥ ||
તે શક્તિ-અસ્ત્રની અગ્નિમાં હજારો દૈત્ય દગ્ધ થઈ ભસ્મ થઈ ગયા. કેટલાંક સ્કંદના સિંહનાદ માત્રથી જ પ્રાણ ત્યજી બેઠા, અને કેટલાંક દેવદ્વેષી તેમની ધ્વજાની ઝપાટથી કંપીને મરી ગયા.
