Vaiśampāyana uvāca | śṛṇu mātṛgaṇān rājan kumārānucarān imān | kīrtyamānān mayā vīra sapatnagaṇasūdanān ||
વૈશમ્પાયન બોલ્યા—વીર નરેશ! સાંભળો; હું કુમાર (સ્કન્દ/કાર્તિકેય)ની અનુચરી આ માતૃકાગણોના નામ વર્ણવું છું. હું જેમને કીર્તિત કરું છું, તેઓ શત્રુસમૂહનો સંહાર કરનારાં છે.
