व्रतैश्न नियमैश्वनैव काले काले सम भुज्जते | वे सब-के-सब अन्न छोड़कर व्रत और नियमोंका पालन करते हुए समय-समयपर उस वृक्षका ही फल खाया करते थे

vrataiś ca niyamaiś caiva kāle kāle sama-bhuñjate

તેઓ સર્વ અન્ન ત્યજી વ્રત અને નિયમોનું પાલન કરતા; યોગ્ય સમયે મિતાહાર કરતા અને પોતાના તપોનિયમ અનુસાર તે વૃક્ષનું ફળ જ માત્ર ભોજનરૂપે ગ્રહણ કરતા.
