Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the relentless momentum of war: once hostility is renewed, its instruments and consequences reappear immediately. Ethically, it hints at the grave weight of choosing conflict—its return is marked not by words but by the impersonal, terrifying sounds of weapons.

Sanjaya reports to Dhritarashtra that the fighting has resumed: the bowstrings sound again and the fierce, rushing whistle of well-shot arrows becomes audible, indicating renewed and intense combat.
