Educational Q&A

The verse frames the enemy as ātatāyin—violent aggressors—implying that force used to stop unlawful aggression can be aligned with dharma. It also highlights restraint-through-strength: defeating attackers to prevent further advance and harm.

Sañjaya reports that the Pāṇḍavas, supported by the Pāñcālas, killed seven hundred Kuru chariot-warriors and then halted the remaining enemy forces from moving forward, stabilizing the battle line.
