(Yamasabhā-varṇanam) — Nārada’s Description of Dharmarāja’s Assembly
Aḍjoṣariṣṭaḥ śna venaś ca duṣpantaḥ sṛjajayo jayaḥ | Bhājāsuriḥ sunīthaś ca niṣadho 'tha vahīnaraḥ ||
The verse reinforces the Mahābhārata’s view that rulership is embedded in lineage and accountability: kings are remembered as part of a chain of predecessors, and their conduct is evaluated against inherited standards of rājadharma (royal duty).
Nārada is reciting a sequence of names—an ancestral/royal genealogy—continuing a catalog of rulers and descendants to locate later events and characters within a recognized dynastic framework.
